Airport Control 27: four real airports, pilot readbacks, and forty-six euros
A 3D air traffic control simulator with real procedures, varied pilot accents and a price that raises questions.

A gentle adventure whose main tool is a stone, because that is what otters do. And where you can wear a hat.

Some games make their most convincing case through a detail of animal observation. This is one of them.
Your character is an otter, and the studio justifies its main tool like this: otters know a thing or two about tools, especially rocks.
That is accurate, and it is the sort of detail that turns a mascot into a character.

Otto, a curious sea otter, was swept away from home by a mysterious event. Far from familiar waters, you must find your way back.
You swim through kelp forests and hidden caves, glide over sunny shores, climb rocky canyons. There are soft puzzles, people to help, and light platforming across an open world.
And you use your favourite rock to break through obstacles, before discovering new tools and treasures.
You upgrade your natural abilities: swim faster, jump higher, climb more easily, glide further.
That is metroidvania progression applied to a gentle game, and it is the right call: every upgrade opens part of a world that had been taunting you, which gives you a reason to explore beyond the pleasure of looking.
Around that sits a cast of creatures, from an ancient turtle to an aspiring frog singer. Some need help, others guide you, and you slowly learn how everything connects.

Worth flagging because it is clearly important to the studio.
You collect charming accessories and quirky hats by exploring, trading with a local fisherman or buying them in cosmetics shops. The studio notes it fully supports your choices, whether you are going for cute, classy or a little chaotic.
It is trivia, and it is exactly what you want from a game in this register: something to collect that serves no purpose beyond pleasing you.
The game launches today, developed and published by Soulworks Interactive, with no price displayed and no reviews as I write. It is single-player, with full controller support and generous visual comfort options.
My reservation belongs to the genre. The gentle animal adventure has become a crowded aisle, and most of these titles last six hours before revealing they only had one idea.
What works in this one's favour is the coherence between the animal and the mechanics. An otter that uses a rock, dives, glides and climbs is not a character dressed as an animal, it is an animal whose behaviour makes the gameplay. That is a small thing, and it is enough to hold the world up.

Your favourite hat? We want screenshots on the InsertCoins Discord.
