In Dig, Dig, Die, death almost never comes from a lack of courage, but from an excess of noise. Robbing graves six-handed on a cursed flying ship is easy; getting back alive with the loot, much less so. This guide gives you the right reflexes to survive the chaos, manage cursed items and coordinate your team, rather than ending up devoured at the first fit of laughter. Straight to the point.

Dig, Dig, Die, grave robbing and team survival

How does the game loop work?

Above all, you need to understand the basic cycle. From your cursed flying ship, you set out to raid graveyards, you dig up coffins and crypts to extract valuable loot, and you have to bring your finds back alive. It is a risk-and-reward loop: the more you dig, the more you enrich yourself, but the more you expose yourself to the dangers and the noise that draw the monsters. The beginner's rule fits in one sentence: a modest expedition you return from beats an ambitious raid that ends in carnage.

The ship is your base and your refuge. Get into the habit of making round trips rather than grabbing everything at once and overloading yourself, and of knowing the way back before plunging into a graveyard. Many matches are lost foolishly because a too-greedy team scattered without a fallback plan. Anticipating the extraction is as important as the looting itself.

Why is silence your best weapon?

This is the game's central mechanic, and the most merciless: the monsters hear absolutely everything. The sound of your shovels when you dig, your footsteps, and above all your voice in the proximity voice chat, anything can betray you and make you a target. The first skill to master in Dig, Dig, Die is therefore not combat, it is stealth. Learn to manage your noise like a resource: digging makes sound, so choose your moments, and do not talk just any time.

The proximity voice chat is double-edged. It is indispensable for coordinating, but every word spoken at the wrong moment can alert a nearby creature. Vocal discipline is therefore essential: whisper the useful information, go quiet when danger lurks, and resist laughing when a friend gets chased, because your hilarity can doom you both. The best teams are the ones that know when to talk and, above all, when to stay silent.

How do you handle items, boosts and curses?

Coffins and crypts do not only contain loot: they hold items with varied effects, and that is where a good part of the strategy plays out. Some grant powerful boosts, like super speed or huge jumps that can save your life or speed up an extraction. But others carry curses, and grabbing them without thinking can turn against you at the worst moment. Every dig is therefore a gamble.

The rule of caution is to assess before grabbing. A mobility boost is almost always worth taking, especially to prepare an escape, while an item with an unknown effect deserves suspicion when the situation is already tense. In a group, communicate what you find to distribute the boosts intelligently by role, and avoid two players saddling themselves with cursed items at the same time. Knowing when to give up a dubious item is a skill in its own right, exactly as in the best extraction games.

How do you coordinate your team and exploit the side activities?

Dig, Dig, Die is above all a team game, and coordination makes the difference between a memorable evening and a massacre. Assign roles when possible: some dig while others watch the surroundings, and always keep someone attentive to the way back. Smart communication, the kind that conveys the essential without making too much noise, is your best collective asset. A silent, coordinated team will survive where a noisy, scattered group gets picked off.

The game also teems with zany side activities you must learn to exploit. The vending machines offer welcome boosters, the onboard casino has its own games of chance, and you have to beware of UFO abductions that can upend a match. These unpredictable elements are the zest of the experience, but they can also cost you dearly: fold them into your strategy rather than suffering them, and know when a detour to a vending machine or a gamble at the casino is worth it, or not.

Dig, Dig, Die FAQ

What is the goal of the game?

Robbing graves from a cursed flying ship, extracting coffins and crypts for loot, and bringing your finds back alive. It is a risk-and-reward loop in co-op for up to six players.

Why do you have to stay silent?

Because the monsters hear everything: the sound of shovels, your footsteps and your voice in the proximity chat. Too much noise makes you a target. Stealth is skill number one.

How do you handle the proximity voice chat?

It is indispensable for coordinating, but dangerous: whisper the useful information, go quiet when danger approaches, and avoid loud laughter that can doom you.

Should you grab every item?

No. Some give powerful boosts like super speed, but others are cursed. Assess before grabbing, favour mobility boosts to prepare an escape, and know when to give up a dubious item.

How many players is the game best with?

Dig, Dig, Die is designed for one to six players and shows its full worth in a complicit, coordinated group, where the tension of silence and the shared chaos create the best moments.
