A good team covers three roles: setup (applying an ailment like Freeze, Poison or Shock), breaking (breaking poise and launching into the air via Knockdown or Airborne), and burst (exploding the damage during the juggle, typically with Bleed). • Ornette (Magitech Frost Gunner): a Freeze builder who also extends aerial chains, an excellent alternative or complement to Renia.
• Lute (Fated Blade, protagonist): the team's Swiss army knife, at once support, damage source and healer, able to trigger Freeze. His versatility makes him a precious pillar once your main carries are established.
• Theresia (Holy Sanctum Inquisitor): the Shock specialist, who stacks the ailment and severely punishes downed (Knockdown) targets.

The first is the Freeze team: Renia, Lute and Castella. The logic is crystal clear, Renia sets up Freeze, Lute triggers the icebreaker, and Castella extends with the aerial extension. It's a fluid, versatile composition, carried by Lute's support and healing that make it resilient. The second is the Stagger and juggle team: Castella, Alex and Roxy. Here, Alex breaks poise with Knockdown, Castella launches into the air, and Roxy explodes the damage with Bleed during the juggle. It's a formidable burst machine, chaining break, launch and explosion with no downtime.

In both cases, the lesson is the same: build thinking about the setup, break, burst chain rather than stacking damage dealers. A team balanced across these three roles chains combos that never let the opponent regain control.

How to level your characters first?

Once your trio is chosen, focus your resources on it rather than spreading them across the whole roster. Invest first in your core carries, and save Lute for a bit later: his support and healing shine mostly once your main characters are established. On gear, remember the 3+2 set rule: set bonuses are obtained at three pieces, not five, which allows mixed builds like three venomous pieces plus two stun ones.
